Ive been a busy bee I have, as you should know from previous posts my course requires I complete a 12 month Industrial Placement.
Now, this sounds easier to obtain than it actually is, I started applying for placements as soon as we started second year, now what student actually apply's for things when they're told? me? has it made a difference? no.
The first interview I had was with a rather decent company specializing in pharmaceuticals, but i'm an animator? yes, however, student placement opportunities in this field seem to be few and far between, so in no way have i limited myself to potions that i have applied for. So this pharmaceuticals company did not hire me, however, on the feedback they gave my placement tutor, they where really nice, and said that I should have no problems finding a placement.
And yet here I am, its June, I lost count of how many placements I applied for after 29, 4 interviews and still nothing.
I had my heart set on working with cubic motion, it seemed like the ideal placement for me, I genuinely thought the interview went well, however, it wasn't a behavioral interview, they didn't fire questions at me, it was just like a conversation, so does that mean they just didn't like me? anyway, Ive already beat myself up about it so its over with, i failed on that one.
So I have an interview in the morning for an IT engineering post, im not an IT engineer at heart, but I think I could be for 12 months, and im past the point of caring where I end up, im now in the frame set of a placement is a placement, experience is experience, anything that will help me get a job.
So yeah, I've been busy applying for placements and what not, I also completed my animation projects YEAH.
It all got handed in with a good few hours to spare before the deadline! which is an achievement I believe, i'll throw some links to the final videos at the end of this OH SO LONG POST.
What else have I been busy doing?
Oh yes, i have rekindled my social life, after becoming a self induced hermit for the best of 5 months so that I could complete all my assignments, Ive had a good few weeks to catch up with old friends and have a good old drink!
Which also means, Ive had to do extra hours at work to fund this, all for a good cause!
Oh, and its officially one week until Download Festival, Oh how I am excited.
Hmm what else? Oh yeah, since I can't afford to fund my obsession with new clothes, I spent a whole day cutting up my old band tops and restyling them, I even got the sewing machine out! Found some lovely useful videos on youtube to make them a bit different from the generic off the shoulder or boob tube style too.
Ive also become obsessed with Digital Art, like I can spend hours just looking through blogs of all these talented people, and its like, THEY MADE THIS ON A COMPUTER, ITS NOT EVEN REAL, and yet they look so realistic.
I should try it myself, in fact I will.
that brings me to my little task I've set myself, I realise im not the best 3D modeller or animator, but im just starting out, and to get better I have to practive right?
So my task is this, every day for at least an hour I have to create something, a model, an animation, a banner in flash, a website, it can be anything, as long as it uses the applications needed and can be added to build my portfolio.
IT WILL BE DONE.
oh yeah, I also got tickets to see City & Colour, BOOM.
I also have to get to leeds to see them, and then back the next morning to liverpool in time to catch my 9am coach to sonisphere, can it be done? we'll find out.
Oh, and I also re-joined the gym and have been doing Zumba religiously on my Wii!
I realise this post is far too long and I have lots more to say, so, i'm going to leave it here, and continue where I left off tomorrow!
